Notice to Residents and Partners
The federal government shutdown may affect some of the Housing Authority’s programs and services. While we continue our essential operations, there may be delays in certain processes if the shutdown continues.
Our priority remains to serve residents, applicants, and partners with as little disruption as possible. We are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as new information becomes available.
Important Information from HUD:
While it is unfortunate that the federal government will be shutting down, this is unlikely to impact Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) in the short term.
HUD is taking steps to ensure program funding continues:
Public Housing payments (i.e., Operating Fund) are pre-loaded to disburse for both October and November.
The voucher program’s funding (both HAP and admin. fee) has been disbursed for October, with two weeks pre-loaded for November.
Because these programs operate on a calendar year rather than a fiscal year, they have historically remained funded during previous shutdowns.
HUD has previously published a contingency plan during shutdowns to clarify processes, and we expect to see a similar plan released soon.
We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.
